Day 3 Santa Barbara to Monterey

We got up early and checked out and git on the road again and headed to a little town called Golita and had some of our favorite Vietnamese Pho from a little hole in the wall called Noodle city!

It was just what we needed a delicious bowl of broth and noodles and chilli to keep us going for the rest of our day.

We then headed North through some mountains towards the coast for a look and potentially a swim at a place called Jalama Beach.

After a quick stop and a few photos, we decided it was too cold in the water to swim and we got back in the car and headed to the next stop Morrow bay.

What a beautiful spot Morro Bay is! It was a gorgeous little town filled with fishing boats and plenty of interesting shops and restaurants. We arrived at about 3 pm and the afternoon sunlight hitting the bay was just stunning.

By this stage we were hungry again and there was plenty of food places to choose from.

I got myself a fish on a stick and a nice ice cold Corona.

Jords had a Clam Chowder Bowl.

And we had to try the garlic fries!!
And the token gopro selfie!

We walked around and found ourselves at the Taffy shop and got a few goodies for the road.

Tank full of gas, bellies full of food, snacks and supplies hitting the road with my favorite ally. Was time to drive through highway 1 and go through the Big Sur north to Monterey.

This drive was magnificent! If you aren't familiar with highway 1, it follows the coast line all the way along and you can see the Pacific Ocean meet the headland the whole drive!!
We were so blessed with the weather and as we chased the sun through the windy roads we made it to the Big Sur as the sun was just about to set. Pulled over in the car and captured some lovely photos that don't do the naked eye view any justice!

Just after this stop we went around the bend and saw the sun set!

After the sun set we drove for another hour and arrived at Monterey around 8 pm and checked into our motel. We were hungry again and quickly popped in to this random local Mexican restaurant that had the Mexican/Spanish  Karaoke pumping and ordered a couple of chorizo tacos and a token Corona.
